Twenty Lessons in Twenty Years

Twenty Lessons in Twenty Years

Having recently turned twenty (*gulps*), I have decided to share with you twenty lessons I have learnt during my time here on planet earth:

  1. It’s okay to be ‘behind’ others your age, everybody has a different path in life.
  2. Don’t believe everything you read in the media.
  3. You are stronger than you think.
  4. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish.
  5. Not everybody has good intentions, but some people genuinely do.
  6. Healing takes time.
  7. You are, ultimately, the one most responsible for your life.
  8. Uncertainty and risk will always exist – learn to live with it.
  10. Perfection is unattainable. You will be miserable if you only ever seek perfection.
  11. We all have flaws (and this should be considered when judging others on theirs).
  12. University isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
  13. It’s okay to take a break.
  14. People are often too busy feeling self-conscious about themselves to notice things about you.
  15. Everyone is going through something, and that may explain why they’re behaving in a certain way.
  16. So what if some random person on the street judges you? Their opinion doesn’t matter.
  17. The only way to overcome your fears, is to face them head on.
  18. Struggling is not a sign of weakness, but strength.
  19. Feelings pass.
  20. It get’s better.
