As I sat thoughtfully writing my ‘2018 goals’ in a notebook (because yes, I still do that) I thought to myself ‘why not share them in a blog post’ – so that’s exactly what I’m doing. I am officially jumping on the New Year bandwagon and setting myself some goals to achieve in this fast approaching new year.
This is something that has been on my mind for some time, and I would like to bring it to the forefront in 2018. From make-up to toiletries, I am going to make a conscious effort to ensure that, wherever possible, the products I use are cruelty-free. Make no mistake, I do not predict this to be a quick nor easy transition. Once I began delving a little deeper into the matter, I was quite surprised at how ambiguous the rules and regulations are. Many brands that we all know and love do not clearly state their policy on animal testing. I (rather naively and wrongly) assumed that the most common brands I use surely cannot test on animals. Rather unfortunately, however, it appears I could be wrong in many cases.
If you yourself are cruelty-free or know of any good cruelty-free bloggers I can check out, please do let me know. I would love to be informed on the topic as much as possible! Any advice, ideas and inspiration as to how to navigate the world of cruelty-free would be greatly appreciated.
Give More, Want Less
In this society, we are obsessed with having things. From the most stylish clothing to the latest gadgets, we are never satisfied with what we have. We always want more, more, MORE. This is in no way a criticism – I am as much guilty of this myself. I buy things that I (let’s be honest) don’t really need with the false hope that it will bring me happiness (however fleeting that may be). In a world where we are constantly bombarded with advertisement, it’s easy to fall into this consumerist trap. And yet it is just that: a trap. Because material things don’t really bring me much happiness at all. Therefore, at the beginning of 2018, I am going to sort through everything I own and give what I no longer need or use to charity shops (and try not to replace it with more stuff!).
No More Numbers!
Since when did we become so preoccupied with numbers? From blogging stats to DA, they dominate the blogging world. Well, not anymore! No longer will I let my page views or (lack of) Instagram followers discourage me from achieving what I want to achieve. I blog mainly for me, so why should it matter?
So, there we have it folks – my goals for 2018. (Oh, and one more thing! I will not put unrealistic expectations on myself to achieve all of these things at once).
What are your goals for the new year?
